The Save Romania Union (USR) leader, MP Dan Barna on Sunday night demanded the resignation of the Government, saying that by organizing the referendum to amend the Constitution, it "threw 40 million out on a fantasy."
Barna declared, after the closing of the polls, that a responsible political class should not organize such referendums that fragment the society.
"This government is a government that has to leave, we demand its resignation because this government has thrown 40 million out on a fantasy. A responsible political class should not make referendums that fragment the society, which bring a tear into society, and I hope that on Monday, the Romanians will return to the problems they care about," said the USR leader.
According to him, Romania has still got enough problems to solve, especially in infrastructure, in the health system or in education to spend money on something else.
Dan Barna also said that a signal that the Romanians rejected this referendum is also the fact that in no county the result came close to the threshold for validation.
