The country's national electricity consumption was 4.7 pct higher in the first 11 months of 2021, compared to the corresponding period of 2020, reaching 50.818 billion kWh, according to data published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), Agerpres reports.
The population's consumption increased the most, by 6.9 pct, followed by public lighting by 5 pct and industrial consumption, which increased by 3.9 pct. Own technological consumption in networks and stations was 4.855 billion kWh, increasing by 136.3 million kWh (+2.9 pct).
Throughout this period, electricity resources were 61.017 billion kWh, up by 3.363 billion kWh (+5.8 pct), compared to the corresponding period of 2020.
The production from thermal power plants was 20.046 billion kWh, increasing by 1.862 billion kWh (+10.2 pct), while the production from hydro-power plants recorded an increase of 13.1 pct, totaling 16.054 billion kWh. In contrast, the amount of energy generated in nuclear power plants decreased by 1.6 pct to 10.252 billion kWh.
According to INS data, production from wind power plants, between January 1 and November 30, 2021, was 5.703 billion kWh, down by 476.7 million kWh (-7.7 pct) compared to the same period of the previous year, and the solar energy produced in photovoltaic plants during this period was 1.662 billion kWh, down by 5.6 million kWh (-0.3 pct) compared to the corresponding period of 2020.
Electricity exports increased by 22.1 [pct in the first 11 months of last year to 5.344 billion kWh, while imports were 7.298 billion kWh, up 4 pct from the same period in 2020.
During the analyzed period, primary energy resources increased by 7.5 pct, totaling 30.78 million tons of oil equivalent (toe). Domestic production totaled 16.933 million toe, up by 368,000 toe compared to the same period of the previous year, and imports were 13.851 million toe.
