President Nicusor Dan told a news conference on Monday that he had spent over RON 60 million campaigning for President.
"While campaigning for President, the expenses I made in the first round - RON 20.5 million, which I requested reimbursement from the Standing Electoral Authority (AEP). For that, I borrowed RON 20.2 million from 111 people. The total expenses in the second round was RON 40.5 million - that was the legal limit - toward which I borrowed RON 38.5 million from 239 people," said Dan, agerpres reports.
He added that in the pre-campaign he received donations of RON 9.5 million and had expenses of RON 7 million. He also said that he had 18,700 donations of less than EUR 5,000 from15,800 donors, with the total amount being less than RON 6.5 million. In addition, the President said, five people donated larger amounts. (EUR 1 = RON 5)
