Chamber of Deputies Speaker Marcel Ciolacu believes that it is not enough for Romania to have the potential of an energy mix and that it is necessary to invest in modern and sustainable technologies, agerpres reports.
"It is becoming increasingly clear that economic and social models around the world will have to meet increasingly ambitious new climate goals in order to remain competitive and sustainable. States that succeed in adapting to this new paradigm will be the future poles of influence worldwide. We must also take into account the fact that the digital transition and technological innovations have a major impact on industries and disrupt existing business models. For these reasons, Romania must play a more active role in existing conversations on European and regional level, especially since we have extensive expertise in both areas. On the other hand, the energy crisis we are going through, which has overlapped with the medical one, has shown us how important it is to have an energy mix, capable to successfully respond to all challenges and developments in Europe. It is not enough to have the potential, it must be put to the benefit of Romanians, and in order for this to happen, we must invest in modern and sustainable technologies capable of helping Romania to be protected in situations of global fluctuations," Ciolacu stated in the message delivered to the Bucharest Forum 2021 on Friday, by Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Ana-Maria Catauta.
He adds that another area in which Romania has extensive expertise is that of societal and institutional resilience. In this context, Ciolacu mentioned the hosting of the Euro-Atlantic Center for Resilience in Bucharest.
"Romania thus has the opportunity to become an exporter of expertise to our partners in the European Union and NATO," the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies said in his message.
