The Chief of the Defence Staff, General Vlad Gheorghita, will participate, on Wednesday and Thursday, in the NATO Military Committee in Chiefs of Defence Session, organized at NATO headquarters in Brussels.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Defence, sent to AGERPRES, the agenda of the meeting includes strategic discussions and briefings by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) on the state of NATO's preparedness to strengthen the Alliance's collective deterrence and defence posture in the face of common security challenges, and by the Supreme Allied Commander for Transformation (SACT) on how NATO can accelerate the provision of relevant capabilities by supporting nations in adopting and implementing innovations, at the right scale and pace.

Also, in the NATO-Ukraine Council format, the defense chiefs will discuss the situation and the continued support provided to Ukraine; not least, global security challenges will be addressed, namely cooperation with partners in the Indo-Pacific region and Georgia.

The Military Committee in Chiefs of Defense Session is a high-level meeting of the NATO Military Committee, the highest military authority of the Alliance, which provides strategic advice to the North Atlantic Council and ensures coordination of the activities of the two structures, the cited press release reads.

This format allows the defense chiefs to assess and harmonize allied military strategic policies and directions, contributing to a common and coherent response to contemporary security threats.
