BNR puts into circulation silver coin to mark 100 years since birth of Toma Caragiu

The National Bank of Romania (BNR) will put into circulation, as of Monday, a silver coin marking 100 years since the birth of Toma Caragiu.

According to a BNR release, the obverse of the coin depicts a composition illustrating the dramatic art, the inscription "ROMANIA" in an arc, the face value "10 LEI", the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue "2025."

The reverse of the coin depicts the portrait and the name of Toma Caragiu, as well as his birth and death years "1925" and "1977."

The silver coins are housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by booklets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue and certificates of authenticity in Romanian, English and French. The certificates of authenticity bear the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.

The maximum mintage is 5,000 silver coins.

The selling price for the silver coin, including the booklet and the certificate of authenticity, is lei 620.00, VAT excluded.

The silver coins to mark 100 years since the birth of Toma Caragiu are legal tender on the territory of Romania.

The coins are put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj, Constanta, Dolj, Iasi and Timis.
