The National Bank of Romania (BNR) injected 5.315 billion lei in the banking market on Monday, through a 7-day repo operation at an interest rate of 2.5pct per annum, equal to the key interest rate according to Agerpres.
Also, the BNR posted an average interest rate on ROBID for a day (overnight) of 2.30pct per annum at a similar level as on Friday, and for overnight deposits (ROBOR) the interest stagnated at 2.60pct per annum.
The ROBOR three-month index fell to 3.19pct a year, from 3.20pct per annum on Friday.
The BNR also organized a repo operation earlier this month, giving banks 12.34 billion lei.
BNR Governor Mugur Isarescu said last week that the National Bank did not flood the liquidity market, the role of a central bank being to provide the necessary liquidity on the market.
