Deposits of non-government resident customers rose by 1.5 percent in November 2025 compared to the previous month to RON 649,111.0 million, while the annual growth rate was 5.6 percent (-3.8 percent in real terms), the National Bank of Romania (BNR) informed on Monday, Agerpres reports.
The RON-denominated deposits of residents, representing 68.1 percent of deposits of non government customers, grew by 1.7 percent to RON 441,863.9 million month on month. In year-on-year comparison, they advanced 1.4 percent (-7.6 percent in real terms).
According to the BNR data, RON-denominated household deposits increased 1.2 percent to RON 257,420.4 million month on month and grew by 3.9 percent (-5.4 percent in real terms) year on year.
The RON-denominated deposits of other sectors (non-financial corporations and non-monetary financial institutions) advanced 2.3 percent (to RON 184,443.5 million) compared to the previous month and went down 1.9 percent (-10.6 percent in real terms) year on year.
In respect to foreign currency-denominated deposits of residents, representing 31.9 percent of the total volume of deposits of non-government customers, rose by 1.1 percent against October 2025 to RON 207,247.1 million when expressed in domestic currency (when expressed in EUR, these deposits increased 1.0 percent to EUR 40,711.7 million). Compared to November 2024, this indicator grew by 16.0 percent when expressed in RON (13.4 percent when expressed in EUR).
The foreign currency-denominated deposits of households increased by 0.2 percent from October 2025 to RON 140,877.2 million when expressed in domestic currency (when expressed in EUR, these deposits increased 0.1 percent to EUR 27,674.0 million). In year-on-year comparison, the indicator grew by 15.7 percent when expressed in RON (13.1 percent when expressed in EUR).
The foreign currency-denominated deposits of other sectors increased by 3.1 percent against October 2025 to RON 66,369.9 million when expressed in domestic currency (when expressed in EUR, these deposits increased 3.0 percent to EUR 13,037.7 million). Compared to November 2024, the indicator rose by 16.8 percent when expressed in RON (14.2 percent when expressed in EUR).
