The opposition Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) calls on the governing coalition to "urgently" remove the Covid green certificate requirement for entering a public institution in order to prevent "huge queues" building up before tax offices, Agerpres reports.
"AUR cautions that huge queues are building up during this period at town halls all over the country, of citizens who want to pay their taxes to the authorities. Taxpayers who come to pay their dues to the local authority are put in this absurd in humiliating situation where they are not allowed to enter the premises of the institutions to fulfill their legal obligations. (...) In many localities, people who come to pay their taxes are sent away for not having the green certificate which is required to enter the town hall. They are sent to take a rapid test. For many Romanians, 60-70 RON, the cost of a rapid test, is a significant amount they would rather give out for food, not for the tests sold by the rulers' political clientele," AUR said in a release.
