The City Hall of Focsani announced on Wednesday that it will start the procedures for a twinning agreement with the municipality of Chisinau, the capital city of the Republic of Moldova, within the "Union Cities" project.
According to the quoted source, the purpose of the collaboration is economic development by stimulating investments and sustaining sustainable economic growth, the exchange of valuable experiences in attracting European and international funds for regional projects, facilitating the exchange of information regarding business opportunities and commercial cooperation.
It will also follow the development of cultural and tourist activities by organizing exhibitions and joint cultural events as well as promoting the cultural and tourist heritage of both regions.
"The general mayor of the municipality of Chisinau, Ion Ceban, responded affirmatively to the invitation launched by the mayor of the municipality of Focsani, Cristi Valentin Misaila, for the signing of a collaboration agreement between the two cities. The invitation was launched as part of an initiative through which the Municipality of Focsani wants to develop partnerships with the 'Cities of the Union'. Along with Cernauti, Bucharest, Alba-Iulia and Focsani, the city of Chisinau is considered the 'City of the Union' after, on March 27/April 9, 1918, the State Council approved the union of Bessarabia with the Kingdom of Romania", reads a press release sent to AGERPRES.
The general mayor of Chisinau expressed his belief that the future partnership will contribute to the good of local communities.
"Considering the common values we share and our common desire to increase the quality of life of our residents, we are convinced that a solid collaboration between our cities will bring numerous advantages and allow the exchange of best practices and experiences in various areas of common interest", mentions Ion Ceban in the official answer sent to Focsani City Hall.
