Judicial appointments are the prerogative of the Romanian president, stated on Thursday the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, who mentioned that difficult decisions are not made "for applause", but for results.
"I publicly support the decision that President Nicusor Dan made yesterday. Judicial appointments are the prerogative of the president. Period. I trust that this decision will produce good effects in the judiciary, will generate trust in the system and will produce justice. This is what I believe, regardless of or even despite the public lynching campaign to which the president is now subjected. And, perhaps most importantly, honestly speaking: Romania finally has a president. He is, at the same time, the only person in Romania who has access to all the information necessary for such a decision. And I rely on his ability to filter it correctly. These decisions are made on clear information, not on speculation or paid campaigns," Rogobete wrote on Facebook.
According to him, a statesman makes a decision, presents it publicly, with arguments, and assumes the results. Rogobete added that, although he is not an expert in justice, he knows that difficult decisions are not made "for applause", but for results.
"I also know and understand that you cannot make a decision under the fear that someone, somehow, will publicly judge you and summarily execute you - which, unfortunately, we are seeing today. And because we are still talking about justice, condemning a man for a decision that has not yet produced its effects is exactly the opposite of the idea of ??justice that some claim to be fighting for," the Minister of Health also argued.
