Protecting and promoting the rights and interests of Romanian citizens abroad is a priority, President Nicusor Dan said on Thursday, noting also that Romania has become a destination country for foreign workers.
"I would like to extend special thanks to the countries that host Romanian diaspora communities. Safeguarding the rights and interests of Romanians abroad is a priority of my term and a strong point of connection between our countries. We have several initiatives underway to strengthen ties between the Romanian state and our communities abroad, which we will present at the appropriate time," Dan told the annual meeting with heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Romania.
According to the president, Romania has also become a destination country for foreign workers.
"I assure the ambassadors representing the states these workers come from of our gratitude for the work of their citizens. The Romanian authorities are making every effort to better integrate these foreign nationals into our society and economy," the president added.
