On a visit to Poland on Thursday, Romania's President Nicusor Dan met Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk to discuss defence cooperation.
" By fostering deep economic and defence industry cooperation between our nations, we are building a solid European defence base, able to deter threats in our neighbourhood and beyond. We have agreed to increase our defence cooperation within NATO, where a strong Eastern Flank remains the guarantee for the security of all European citizens," Dan wrote in a social media post.
He added that Romania and Poland remain committed to supporting Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova on their path towards European integration.
Dan also said that he and Tusk " focused on the shared responsibility Romania and Poland carry for strengthening the security of our continent and the future of the European project."
The Romanian chief of state went on to say that the Romanian Polish strategic partnership and bilateral cooperation serve as a vital pillar of European stability.
"We are committed to a more united and competitive Europe, which prioritizes innovation and a future EU budget focused on development, security and resilience," Dan also said.
