The chairman of the PMP (People's Movement Party, opposition, ed. n.) Eugen Tomac says that the PSD (Social Democratic Party, major at rule, ed. n.) is leaving behind a "scorched country", pointing out that "Romania is battling in statistics with banana republics in infrastructure."
"Romania is battling, in statistics, with banana republics, in infrastructure. Motorways have become a faraway dream for every citizen of this country. We sit in awe on how all of our neighbors (not to mention Western Europe) manage to develop full networks of modern roads, and we fall into potholes, throughout the entire teritory of Romania," Tomac wrote on Facebook.
He mentioned that, "out of desperation, people have started to organize themselves and pressure the Government to do something."
"We are sick and tired from all the frustrations that we have to live through. Even European Commissioner Corina Cretu, who also comes from the PSD, is exasperated from the carelessness Dancila Government," Eugen Tomac said.
According to him, although generous funds from the European Union for the construction of highways exist, the people with the ministries decide to start infrastructure projects with a public-private partnership.
"See the case of the Ploiesti-Brasov motorway, or Moldova's motorway! We know very well that all public-private partnerships have utterly failed so far. Why is it that the ruling class is stubborn in following this path? There is no other explanation but bribery. European funds cannot be commissioned, there are too many rules that need to be observed, they are thoroughly controlled. So, it's better for the PSD to tinker with the money from their own budget, that they manage and can bleed dry. For the red plague, the country's infrastructure does not represent an interest other than the bribe that they can cash in. And this is how we are cursed with a clique of politicians with a fee, who will leave behind a scorching country," Tomac also said.
