Industrial production drops 0.9pct ten months into 2025

Industrial production dropped 0.9% as a gross series and 0.5% as a series adjusted for the number of working days and seasonality in the first ten months of the year compared with the same period in 2024, according to data the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Monday.

Thus, in the period 1 January-31 October 2025, compared with the same period last year, industrial production (gross series) decreased as a result of declines recorded in the extractive industry (-1.4%) and the manufacturing industry (-1.2%). The production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning increased 1.1%.

Industrial production, as a series adjusted for the number of working days and seasonality, in the period mentioned this year compared with the same period in 2024, was lower due to declines recorded in the extractive industry (-1.3%) and the manufacturing industry (-0.7%). The production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning increased 1.5%.

According to official statistics, in October 2025 industrial production increased as a gross series 3.9% compared with September 2025 and 0.4% as a series adjusted for the number of working days and seasonality.

In October 2025, industrial production (gross series) increased as a result of growth in all three industrial sectors: the production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning (+15.8%), the extractive industry (+4.2%) and the manufacturing industry (+2.5%).

Industrial production, as a series adjusted for the number of working days and seasonality, was higher than in the previous month 0.4%, due to increases in the production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning (+5.5%) and in the extractive industry (+0.7%). The manufacturing industry declined 0.5%.

Compared with October 2024, industrial production was higher 0.2%, both as a gross series and as a series adjusted for the number of working days and seasonality.

In this case, industrial production (gross series) increased 0.2%, supported by growth in the production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning (+6.6%). The extractive industry and the manufacturing industry fell 4.2% and 0.3% respectively.

Industrial production, as a series adjusted for the number of working days and seasonality, was higher than in the corresponding month of the previous year by 0.2%. The production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning increased 5.9%, while the extractive industry and the manufacturing industry declined 4.2% and 0.3% respectively.
