Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan enjoys an extremely strong vote within the National Liberal Party (PNL), a fact demonstrated by the vote cast on Monday evening, declared the party's vice-president, MP Alexandru Muraru.

"A vote of confidence was requested and proposed by president Bolojan as a measure to reconfirm support for the government's activity, for the measures in the coalition and to strengthen the position of the president of the PNL and the National Liberal Party in the coalition, at the head of the Government, and less at the head of the National Liberal Party. I also want to tell you that this is not the first vote of confidence that Ilie Bolojan has requested. He did the same thing two weeks after being invested with the position of interim president, in December 2024. Then, as you know very well, he took over the party (...) and managed to transfer credibility to the PNL percentages for the parliamentary elections and, likewise, he came back then and requested a secret vote of confidence. And now he has done the same, he expressly requested that this vote of confidence be secret, to protect those colleagues who do not want to expose themselves or, I know, would have been intimidated by an open vote. This vote assumes and demonstrates that Ilie Bolojan has overwhelming confidence in the PNL - 47 votes out of 50 colleagues who mean presidents of organizations, means first vice presidents, group leaders and so on, means an extremely strong vote in the PNL which shows that Ilie Bolojan is based on very important support", Muraru declared on Tuesday in Parliament.

The second vote expressed in the PNL leadership meeting on Monday evening is one that stems from the decisions adopted last year in Congress regarding the dissolution of non-performing organizations, the deputy recalled.

According to him, the vote of confidence granted to the PNL president should not be confused with the vote that concerns the institutional organization of the party and the functioning of internal organizations.

"Statutorily, practically, every time there are elections, we will determine the dismissal or dissolution of the offices of organizations with poor performance", added the PNL vice-president.

Alexandru Muraru also said that, in the Monday evening meeting, "there were no attacks" against Ilie Bolojan, but "it was a very good, realistic discussion".

Asked whether the vote on the statute should be repeated, he answered in the affirmative.

The National Political Bureau of the PNL gave a vote of confidence, on Monday evening, for the party president, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, confirming majority support for the leader of the party.

According to a PNL press release, 47 votes "for" and three votes "against" were recorded.
