Concordia Employers' Confederation supports the simplification agenda proposed to member states by Business at OECD (BIAC), the organisation that brings together employers' confederations from the countries of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), with the aim of stimulating economic growth and competitiveness.

According to a press release the organisation sent to AGERPRES on Tuesday, these recommendations are being promoted in the local context, on the grounds that simplification policies must become a fundamental condition for restoring confidence in market economies and ensuring long-term prosperity.

The document "Cutting Complexity," presented at the Annual Consultation with OECD leaders and ambassadors, comes at a critical time when developed economies are facing slowing economic growth and an unsustainable increase in legislative complexity.

Recent OECD surveys conducted among business organisations confirm that 90% of business organisations in the surveyed countries consider the current level of regulation and bureaucracy excessive, while 77% report a worsening of the situation over the past three years, the employers' organisation mentions in the press release.

In this context, the burden is not only legislative but also administrative, ranging from duplicated and volatile reporting obligations to unclear compliance requirements and coordination gaps between authorities. For SMEs, which represent 99% of companies and generate between 50% and 60% of added value in OECD countries, this complexity is disproportionately heavy, consuming resources that could be devoted to innovation and growth.

"The OECD accession process is an opportunity for Romania not only to align itself with the highest standards of economic governance and become a more attractive destination for investors, but also to implement substantial reforms with visible effects for companies already operating in Romania. Companies' needs are the same globally: less bureaucracy, more economic dynamism, fewer trade distortions," Public Affairs Director within the Concordia Employers' Confederation Adelina Dabu is quoted in the release as saying.
