The average waiting times for freight transport at the border ranged between 31 and 36 minutes in 2025, according to the Romanian Customs Authority (AVR).
"In 2024, the estimated average waiting time for freight vehicles reported by border customs offices was 36.46 minutes for entry into the country and 26.65 minutes for exit. In 2025, the estimated average waiting time for freight vehicles reported by border customs offices was 36.25 minutes for entry and 31.33 minutes for exit," the response sent to AGERPRES informed.
Regarding other categories of vehicles (cars, minibuses, coaches), the authority mentioned that the average waiting times are variable due to a range of factors, including vehicle type, number of passengers and luggage volume.
"Regarding the measures adopted in 2025 to streamline traffic flows, we inform you that governmental agreements were concluded between Romania, Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova concerning the opening and development of new border crossing points," the AVR response said.
