Authorities in Romania and Ukraine discussed on Friday the consolidation of energy interconnections and the increase of the cross-border electricity exchange capacity, the Ministry of Energy announced.

"During the discussions held at the technical and institutional level to consolidate energy interconnections and increase the cross-border electricity exchange capacity, the following topics were addressed: the construction of the 400 kV Cernauti-Suceava electrical interconnector (on Romanian territory, the project is managed by Transelectrica); the modernization of the 110 kV Porubne-Siret electrical line, which will allow the supply of electricity to the inhabitants of the Cernauti region", the institution informed.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Facebook that he had discussed with Romanian President Nicusor Dan joint energy projects that can significantly strengthen the energy security of both countries, Agerpres informs.

"I spoke with Nicusor Dan about joint energy-related projects, which could significantly strengthen the energy security of both Ukraine and Romania. It is crucial to make all these projects. Our teams will continue discussions at the ministerial level. I thank the President and the Romanian people for their support," Zelensky wrote on Facebook.
