The turnover in market services provided to the population fell in the first month of 2026 compared with December 2025, both as gross series, by 18.7 percent, and as series adjusted according to the working days and seasonality, by 8.5 percent, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS) data published on Thursday.
Regarding market services provided to the population, gross series, in January 2026 compared with the previous month, turnover fell by 18.7 percent, due to declines in gambling and other recreational activities (-24.6 percent), hotels and restaurants (-21.4 percent), hairdressing and other beauty services (-21.2 percent), and dry-cleaning of textiles and fur products (-15.0 percent). Activities of travel agencies and tour operators increased by 12.4 percent.
Market services provided to the population, gross series, in January 2026 recorded a turnover 13.1 percent lower than in January 2025, following the declines recorded in gambling and other recreational activities (-19.1 percent), hairdressing and other beauty services (-17.3 percent), hotels and restaurants (-15.8 percent), and dry-cleaning of textiles and fur products (-13.5 percent). Activities of travel agencies and tour operators increased by 10.8 percent.
As adjusted according to the number of working days and seasonality, market services provided to the population in January 2026 fell by 9.7 percent compared with January 2025.
